Acetyl-L-carnitine (often shortened to ALCAR) is a form of carnitine, a compound your cells use to carry fatty acids into the mitochondria, where they're burned for energy. How to use
Take 1 capsule daily, or as directed on the label. Follow the label directions and your healthcare provider's guidance. Some people find it easier on the stomach taken with food.
Before you start
Talk with your physician before using this product if you are pregnant or nursing, take a blood thinner such as warfarin, take thyroid medication, have a history of seizures, or have a medical condition. Mild stomach upset is the most commonly reported side effect.
